ProMaster v8.0, Content and Timing

By Michael Boldiston

The v8.0 release of ProMaster is the culmination of many months work and includes numerous new and useful features. These features are designed to benefit both end-users and System Administrators alike, continuing the Inlogik commitment to product improvement.

Many of the additions are the result of client feedback, as our client base continues to be our most fruitful source of ideas and improvements.

Version 8.0 is presently slated to clear testing early December 2010. For Australian/NZ Inlogik-hosted clients, v8.0 is scheduled to be applied to their sites on Saturday, 18th December 2010.

The main items of note in v8.0 are:

  • Cash Management functionality has been significantly expanded throughout ProMaster to cope with the growing trend to use ProMaster to manage petty cash and track balances of Cash Advances.  This includes being able to define a user's claim account as being required for up to 6 distinct uses.
    1. REIMBURSEMENTS – lodge an expense claim for refund of personally incurred business expenses.
    2. CASH ADVANCE ACQUITTAL – Accurately account for a sum of cash advance funds.
    3. PETTY CASH – Operate a Petty Cash tin and record all payouts and cash injections.
    4. PAYABLES CARDS – Administer and monitor the cash drawn down from a Corporate Debit card program.
    5. ALLOWANCES – Lodge an expense claim for allowances due.
    6. COMMITMENTS – Lodge a record of card expenditure for later acquittal.
  • Update to Strong Passwords functionality for increased security options. These include minimum number of Numeric characters, minimum number of Special Characters, minimum number of Normal characters and more.
  • A large number of usability updates have been made across the system, areas of note are: Approvals page, Transaction coding, Document Control and Fast Track Home Page. More details are available in the Release Notes on v7.2 patch 24 & v8.0 patch 0.
  • A Hierarchy Approval model has been added that allows escalation of approvals through a client-defined hierarchy, based on the value of the transaction.
  • New pre-defined Breakdown page has been created to cater for two varieties of 50-50 Fringe Benefits. This will allow the user to easily create and submit meal-based expenses where 50% of the cost is FBT.
  • Multiple changes to the User List and Account List for Administrators including ability to sort columns by clicking the headers, sorting ascending or descending and new filters for Admin Centre/Security Groups.
  • Option to automatically generate e-mails back to users whose expenses have been queried from their Supervisor. This has previously been possible via e-mail tokens, but is now a configuration setting.
  • Cabcharge Voucher processing module has been updated to include a new report. Also the Voucher Assignment page has been updated to add GL search dropdown boxes.
  • The Travel Planner module has had several significant features added including the addition of Guest Plans, addition of a submit threshold for plans, Cancel Travel Plan workflow and Preferred Suppliers.
